Just meet up after they are done, and it's fairly painless. If you know you are going to a heavily scripted moment (like the greybeard meetings) it is best to sit it out and let the main person go on ahead. If you don't, it may load the cell based on someone else's world state and then the main player won't be able to continue their quest.

Let the person who is doing the quests load into areas first. this save file is level 1 with no exp or extra skills! Every other player playing along must use this save (or one similar) with all of the quests completed, so that you can access all of the same areas and play along.
